1.8 million children helped

At MODO Eyewear, we believe that every pair of glasses can make a difference in someone's life. That’s why we’ve partnered with Seva Foundation to bring vision to those in need. Many communities around the world lack access to proper eye care, and through this partnership, we’re working to change that by helping provide essential vision services to those who need it most.

Buy a Frame – Help a Child See

The Buy a Frame – Help a Child See program works with Seva partners to provide comprehensive care to kids in need at no cost to their families. Together, MODO Eyewear and Seva Foundation provide teacher trainings, vision screenings, optometrist exams, and free prescription glasses or free corrective treatments and surgeries when needed. When a child receives a sight-saving service, their entire life is impacted. They are able to return to the classroom with the clear vision they need to succeed and thrive.

How it works

The central activities of the program include school vision screenings provided by ophthalmic nurses, secondary exams at partner hospitals for children who require further care, and education for teachers and families regarding conditions, treatments, and the importance of wearing glasses. Our program partners develop long-term relationships with schools to allow for annual student screenings, early detection and treatment, and monitoring the utilization of glasses.

“My time in India visiting schools in underprivileged areas gave me a first-hand look at how MODO can help the children who need it most. With Seva Foundation’s partnership, our Buy a Frame – Help a Child See program will give the next generation in need the opportunity to succeed.”

Vision Centers

MODO Eyewear, in partnership with Seva Foundation, is supporting the establishment of Vision Centers in India and Nepal from July 2022 to June 2025, with a total of 7 centers in each country. These vision centers will provide over 1,000,000 individuals with access to sustainable, high-quality, and affordable eye care services, including comprehensive eye exams and follow-up care. MODO Eyewear’s support provides critical training, infrastructure, and equipment to these centers, making eye care more accessible to underserved populations, especially women and children.

Vision Centers are permanent, local facilities equipped to meet 80% of eye care needs, referring more complex cases to nearby hospitals. As more people experience restored vision and return to work or school, awareness of eye health rises, acceptance grows, and the centers contribute to broader economic growth by attracting other businesses to the area. Establishing vision centers in remote areas also expands job opportunities for community members.

Seva is a global nonprofit eye care organization that transforms lives and strengthens communities by restoring sight and preventing blindness. Since 1978, Seva has helped more than 50 million people regain their sight in more than 20 countries. Seva trains local eye care providers and develops self-sustaining eye programs around the world. Through its many partnerships, Seva provides critical eye care to underserved communities, especially women, children, and indigenous peoples.
